Turkey day is coming people! It’s coming fast too. Are you ready to stuff your face for a full five hours just like everyone else in America? Are you ready to eat a turkey feast, again? I’m not! Isn’t there something else we could have besides turkey? Shouldn’t we change after we’ve done this for the last 150 years? Thanksgiving needs a protein spice-up!

Thanksgiving has been a national holiday ever since 1863 when president Abraham Lincoln called it a national day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens,” and it is to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November. It is a holiday that is famous for giving us the feast of fresh turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. And it is infamous for the stomach cramping that occurs over the next few days. It is an important American tradition, however, it does need a bit more interesting protein than turkey. I mean, we’ve been eating turkey on this holiday for the longest time, therefore, there must be some other delicious, succulent core ingredients to this delicious meal.

For example, ham is used as a centerpiece for most Christmas feasts; it is just as flavorful, and delicious as a turkey. Also, a nice big steak, why not? You get so much delicious flavor with a nice, fresh, juicy steak, cooked any way you might like. These are just some perfect replacements for the all-mighty turkey. Having the ability to have more protein, that’s different, takes less time to cook, and has a different flavor than turkey, I’m all for it, are you?
