Percy Jackson fans don’t know whether or not they should be shedding tears, as the movies have come to an unexpected end. In March, the popular actor Logan Lerman revealed that a third movie in the award-winning young adult movie adaptation would not be made, even though he was initially signed to appear in three Percy Jackson movies. This is very contrasting to his profound enthusiasm about the movies in interviews back in 2010. Logan played the main character in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson:Sea of Monsters. The two movies covered the young demigod’s arrival at Camp Half-Blood while trying to stop the uprising of the titan, Kronos. When asked about the role of Percy he said, “It’s been a great experience for me. It’s opened up a lot of doors for me but I don’t think it’s happening.”

Fans of this franchise are expectantly having mixed reactions. Some were extremely devastated that Lerman was abandoning his prized role, while others felt relieved. Many fans and critics surprisingly gave the first movie negative feedback, because of the notorious special effects and storyline. Unfortunately for the fans of the books, it hardly followed the events as they were originally written. Some speculate that Chris Columbus, the director of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief,  did not even pick up the Percy Jackson books, as significant characters were omitted. Although the second movie followed the storyline a little more closely than the first, it still missed the mark for the passionate readers of the series.

As for the “doors” Lerman mentioned before, he may have meant his part in the film, Noah, which came out on March 28th. He was picked to play Ham, one of Noah’s sons. Recently, he has been working on the war movie, Fury.  He plays the timid typist, Norman Ellison, who is thrown into the position of being the assistant driver of the war tank. Lerman stars alongside Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Bernthal, and Michael Pena. Fury was released on October 17th and made approximately $23,702,421 during it’s opening weekend. This is a substantial difference between the amount of money Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters which made approximately $14,401,054 during it’s opening weekend.

Fans of Logan Lerman are thankful that he is at least moving on with his career and hope to see him in more award-winning movies in the future.
