On Saturday December 2nd, the Hills West Colts Boys Varsity Basketball team, headed to play the Harborfields Tornadoes. This game was a meaningful game as the next generation of players have joined the Varsity program. After losing a handful of seniors, the young team had their first regular season test. Additionally, this game marked the official return of Coach Bill Mitaritonna, who has returned to the court following a 6 year absence. Throughout his 18 year tenure, prior to stepping away, Mitaritonna established Hills West as one of the top programs in the county.

As for Saturday’s game, the youth of the Colts showed, as only one senior saw the court for the season opener. Leading the Colts in scoring were sophomores Vince Corso with 17 points and Jack Vafeas with 11 points. The game did not go as planned as the Colts fell to Harborfields 51-46. This just being the first game, there is no panic within the program as there is a whole season still left to be played.
