Donald Trump Brags About Being Able To Sexually Assault Women
On October 7th, a 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape was released. In the tape, Donald Trump bragged about groping and kissing women without their consent saying, “When you’re a star” one could get away with such things. He had this conversation with Billy Bush, who, much to the chagrin of the public, simply laughed at Donald’s remarks. The two were going to the set of “Days of Our Lives” to talk about Donald Trump’s cameo on the very popular daytime soap opera.
Specifically, in the tape, Trump talks about a failed attempt to seduce a woman, whose name is not mentioned in the video. Trump then goes on to say “I did try and f*** her. She was married.” The tape was recorded when Trump had already been married to his third wife, Melania, for several months. Yet, Trump describes how he persistently courted the woman who was most certainly not his wife. “In fact, I took her out furniture shopping. She wanted to get furniture. I said, ‘I’ll show you where they have some nice furniture.’ I moved on her like a b****, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married,” Trump says. “Then all of a sudden I see her, she’s now got the big phony tits and everything. She’s totally changed her look.”
Later in the video, they notice actress Arianne Zucker, who is waiting to escort them to the set. “Your girl’s hot as s***, in the purple,” says Billy Bush. “Whoa! Whoa!” Trump says. “I’ve got to use some Tic Tacs, just in case I start kissing her,” Trump says. “You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful, I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything,” Trump says. “Whatever you want,” Bush ominously remarks.
The Friday following the tape’s release, Trump released a brief video claiming, “I said it, I was wrong and I apologize”. During that same apology he tried to take the heat off of himself by saying that the release of the tapes were a ” distraction from the issues we’re facing today” and said that the words he said aren’t quite as bad as the words and actions of Bill Clinton, who he accused of sexually assaulting many women, and also accused Hillary of bullying, shaming, attacking and intimidating these women.
After the tapes were released online, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton responded on twitter by saying “This is horrific. We cannot allow this man to be president.” While campaigning in Las Vegas, Clinton’s running mate, Sen. Tim Caine, told reporters “It makes me sick to my stomach.”
Trump was also severely criticized by members of his own party. House speaker Paul Ryan released a statement saying, ” Women are to be championed and revered, not objectified. I hope Mr. Trump treats this situation with the seriousness it deserves and works to demonstrate to the country that he has greater respect for women than this clip suggests”.
Trump has been known for his very controversial campaign and is feeling the consequences of his actions. Trump is down about 7 points and it is very unlikely for him to catch up. As he strengthens his group of core supporters he drives away many moderate republicans and independent voters, which he needs in order to win this election. But who knows? Anything can happen between now and the election on November eighth.
