Super Tuesday: What are the results?

March 5th was Super Tuesday, an important date for the upcoming presidential elections. Super Tuesday is when the largest number of states will hold their presidential primaries, for who will be the respective candidate for the Republican and Democratic parties.

Fifteen states held GOP contests on Super Tuesday. Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia are holding primaries. Two states, Alaska and Utah, are holding caucuses. The same states, except Alaska, also held Democratic primaries, and American Samoa, a U.S. territory, will also be holding Democratic caucuses.

Based on the results it seems as if the presidential election will once again be between current President Joe Biden and Former President Donald Trump. Nikki Haley, a candidate for the Republican party, who seemed to be sticking it out, recently suspended her campaign. Nikki Haley, for some, seemed like a moderate candidate with no extreme leaning towards the Republican side, unlike Trump. For voters who are tired of choosing between “two evils” the elimination of Haley just complicates the situation, as some voters now feel forced to choose one.

With Trump leading the nomination for the Republican Party, it also brings up complications as to whether he should even be allowed to run considering his current criminal indictments. People also question if Biden is also prepared to take on the role of President for the next four years. Many people have questioned if his age will allow him to continue, and some also express their distaste about President Biden’s view on supporting Israel during the Israel-Gaza conflict. So is this the future of the U.S for the next four years? A choice between “two evils”?
