Start of the Girls Fencing Season
Four meets into their season the girls varsity fencing team has a record of 2-2. Fencing meets consist of 27 rounds nine for each weapon sabre, foil and epee. The winner of each match gets a point for their respective team. At the end of 27 matches the team with the most points win, the first team to get 14 points secures a win. The first team the girls faced was Ward Melville. They lost 12-15 to a Ward Melville team that is currently 5-1 only losing to Commack. The Hills team will go to face an undefeated Commack team the 26th. The second meet was a home win for the girls against Huntington, score 17-10. The girls got their second win of the season against Newfield December 15th with a score 19-8. 19 points has been the most scored by the team so far this season. The most recent meet was before the winter break against undefeated Commack. The girls put up a good fight but lost 12-15. The girls season has started out well and they still have 11 meets left to improve. The girls will have a home meet January 9th against Centereach.
