On Monday, the Hills West Girls Softball Team played an undeniably intense, exciting game. Playing Commack on their home field, the girls played to their strengths throughout every inning. However, it seemed that Hills West and Commack were evenly matched as the score remained 0-0 at the top of the seventh inning. During the bottom of the seventh, West stepped up to the plate. Sophomore, Sarah Aurrichio hit and got on to second, followed up by sophomore Renee Pino, who hit a single. As the crowd’s anxiety grew, sophomore Rose Cipoletti took her stance by the plate, swung and hit a tremendous walk off home run to win the game. With a final score of 3-0, the girls move on to play Hauppague on Wednesday as one of the final four teams in the playoffs.
