Girls Varsity Soccer Falls Short in a Second Chance Match Against Smithtown East
Last Wednesday, the Girls Varsity Soccer team had a tough game against Smithtown East. Several weeks prior, the girls ended one of their first games against Smithtown East in a 1-1 tie. Wednesday’s game was a struggle and the girls were not able to even up the playing field against the opposing team’s defense. Captains Angelique Chaptar and Megan Iris were the only two able to score. Chaptar scored off a direct kick in the first half, and Iris scored with a strong penalty kick with only 35 seconds left in the game. Although the game ended in a score of 4-2 in favor of Smithtown East, key players such as juniors Jenn Casadonte and Olivia Sabatino played really well and helped make significant plays for the Colts. The girls only have two games remaining, with the next being this Friday against Riverhead.
