Girls Track: It Can Only Get Better from Here
The girl’s track team had their first meet on March 30 and had a good meet to start to the season. In this Lindy relay the girls were able to place in key spots in the meet that helped to put them on top at fourth place in the overall meet. In the 4 x 100 meter relay the girls were able to place third with a time of 52.11 and place first in the 4 x 200 thanks to Sophomore Kayla Hodge, Sophomore Olivia Sabatino, Sophomore Arianna Sabatino, and Senior Kerri Graber with a time of 1:49.70. In the 4 x 400 Hills West was able to finish second with a time of 4:09.35. Unfortunately in the 4 x 800 race we did not have as much luck, coming in tenth place with a still solid time of 11:30.48. In the long jump Senior Deborah Myrtil was able to tie for fifth place with two other girls with a distance of 15-10 out of 36 other girls. Senior Esprit Parker was able to win fourteenth place in the triple jump out of 35 girls with a distance of 30-11.25. Half Hollow Hills West was able to gain first and second place in shot-put due to Senior Tiara Davis throwing 38-09 feet and Junior Oyin Adewale throwing 36-11 feet. We were also able to win first and fourth place in discus with Davis throwing 105.01 feet and Adewale throwing 93-08 feet. In the 1500 meter race walk, Sophomore Taylor McGee was able to place twenty-fourth out of 39 girls with a time of 10:04.30. The girls walked away from the meet with a total of a respectable 50 points putting them in fourth place overall which is a great way to begin the season and can only get better from here.
