Another Disappointment For Hills Fencing
The Hills fencing teams faced defeat yet again at their away meet at Huntington.
For the boys, the final score was 10-17, the same score as their last meet against Huntington. The sabre team, consisting of Israel Gangidino, Jack Goldberg, and team captain Payden DeRossi, gave a strong performance, winning 6 of the 9 sabre bouts. DeRossi went 3-0 to lead his teammates.
The girls, too, put forth their best effort. Captains Amanda Lewis and Lindsay Squires both went 3-0 in foil and sabre, respectively. Unfortunately, their effort proved to be too little, and, after several close bouts, the girls’ team lost 9-18. Coincidentally, this was also their score at the previous Huntington game.
The next fencing meet is on January 31st against Ward Melville, where the team will hopefully do better.
