New Club! Science Honor Society Starts This Year!

Hills West has a new club! Science Honor Society, advised by Mrs.Tjersland, will meet after school on Wednesdays, once or twice a month in room 217.

The Half Hollow Hills Science Director, Christian Fogarazzo came up with this idea and wanted to incorporate it into our school.

Mrs. Tjersland has been a teacher here at Hills West for 17 years and she teaches Honors Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Science Research. She has always known that she wanted to be a teacher, and in high school, she would give clarinet lessons to elementary schoolers. This club will be her first club to advise. The Science Honor Society is a club that allows its members to give talks to each other related to different science topics. Each member will develop and participate in some community service projects. It is only offered to juniors and seniors who have gotten a 92 or above on at least three regents exams. To be accepted, you must apply, and guidance will look over your application and make sure that you have met the academic achievements needed. If there is a student that has an interest in science and wants to explore more topics than this club is for you!
