Boys Badminton Dominates County Championships

What a season badminton had; undefeated, county champions, and individual excellence. The closest loss for the team came on a 7-2 win versus Smithtown East during the regular season. While in the playoffs, the ThunderColts breezed through the early rounds and into the championship. In the final round they faced Smithtown East and won, this time by an 8-1 margin. As a team they were unstoppable and the same held true for the individual brackets. In singles, John Stanis and Aiden Lee made it to the semifinals where they went head to head. They played each other everyday in practice but this time a shot at the trophy was on the line. John came out on top and went on to win 1st place, while Aiden won the consolation bracket and placed 3rd. As for doubles, representing the Hills East side of the team at first doubles was Jacob Tuchinsky and Riley Cavanagh; on the West side was second doubles with Stephen Lauria and Ryan Tuma. Both teams made it to the semifinal round, however the second doubles team lost to a very good Commack first doubles. The Commack first doubles went on to beat Jacob and Riley in the finals. Overall, however, the dominance showed by the team championship reflected the effort and skillfulness of the individual trophies won by the team.
