Missing Planes Of the Past Year

There had been many news reports about the tragedies from plane accidents last year. Though the number of plane crashes had decreased significantly to 111 crashes in 2012, which was the lowest it has ever been for 80 years, the number of deaths from planes had increased greatly. The number of deaths from plane crashes last year was 1320 people, an increase from less than 265 people from 2013.

Before 2014, the plane accident last year, Malaysia Airlines was carrying a superb safety record. Then in March 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared while heading from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 passengers aboard. Though officials suspect that the plane had gone missing in Indiana Ocean, the plane MH370 has still not been found.

Another plane that had gone missing in 2014 is flight QZ8501 that had not saved any of its passengers when it crashed December 28th. En route from Singapore to Surabaya, the plane had crashed and is said to have experienced a storm. Only 53 bodies have been found in the sea where the plane had scattered.

Officials claim that the plane crash was not an act of terrorism but been caused when the plane had taken off the ground with a speed of 6000 feet per minute while it is normal for commercial planes to climb only 1000 to 2000 feet per minute. According to Air Asia, there were at least 162 passengers on the plane from Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

Flight QZ8501, an Airbus A320-200 had gone missing after it lost contact over the Java Sea with air traffic control. The plane lost contact at 6:17 a.m. Bambang Soelistyo, the head of Indonesia’s national search and rescue agency, accounted that the plane most likely on the bottom of the ocean floor. A preliminary report on the crash is expected on 28 January.

Hopefully the planes can be found soon and future crashes and tragedies can be prevented in the year 2015.
