The Colts Are Getting Closer to a County Championship

The seemingly unbeatable Colts go up against the 3rd seed Riverhead High School football team  in the second round of the playoffs. The Colts, coming off an impressive victory versus cross-town rivals Hills East, have been preparing all week for their upcoming matchup. Hills West, in their first game of the season, beat Riverhead by a substantial two touchdown margin. Knowing this, the team is very confident of their chances, especially with the increase in their offensive production led by the outstanding play of Alexander Filacouris, Lucas DiGiorgi, and Anthony Lucarelli. Sophomore, Alexander Filacouris, leads the team with 905 total yards and 25 receptions on the season, while Juniors, Anthony Lucarelli and Lucas DiGiorgi are the workhorses of the offense. Filacouris, an offensive and defensive presence for the Colts, when asked about their preparation said, “We are very prepared for whatever Riverhead may throw at us.” Alexander continued, “The last time we played [Riverhead] we contained their pass and mainly run offense pretty well. We’ve been preparing all week and are confident that we can secure a win and move on in the playoffs.” Alexander and Hills West’s “Legion of Boom” will have to stop a dynamic Riverhead run offense, lead by leading rusher Ryan Moore, that is very hard to stop. Despite this, the Colts have one of the best defenses in the conference and are vey capable of diminishing Moore’s effect on the game. This is a must win game for the Colts if they have any hopes of reaching the County Title.
