Girls Soccer Topples Undefeated West Islip
Today was an exciting and important game for the girl’s soccer team. The Colts went against their biggest rivals, West Islip, also known as “the wigs”. For a long time “the wigs” have been on the winning side of this series, but that changed today. The Colts worked hard throughout the game and their work paid off with a 4-2 win over their rivals. The first goal of the game was scored by West Islip, but was answered shortly by an aggressive Colts team. At that point the game was tied at 1-1, thanks to a Colts goal, scored by senior Angelique Chatpar. West Islip scored their second goal early into the second half, jumping out to a 2-1 lead. The strong Colts team continued to fight, though, and their effort paid off with a second goal, scored by senior Ariana Sabatino, to tie the game up again at 2. After that, the Colts, hungry for a win against the undefeated West Islip team, surged forward to take the lead on a decisive goal by Ashleigh Lakatos. The West Islip team was unable to answer against the Colts’ defense, and the Colts’ Chatpar scored the final goal of the game in the last 10 minutes to make the final score 4-2. The win was a great accomplishment for the team and a potential rallying point for the season moving forward.
