Hills West Varsity Tennis Starting Season Off Strong
While it has been a few years since the team has enjoyed much success,Varsity Tennis has once again regained its superior status in Long Island as a force to be reckoned with, with Newsday ranking Hills West Varsity Tennis as the third best tennis team on Long Island. Much of the team’s success is attributed to the many dedicated players on the team who are committed to achieving greatness and making their mark in the tennis world. “Hills West Tennis is defined by its tenacity,” said Freshman Aziz Rashidzada. “We always keep fighting because the match isn’t over until you shake your opponent’s hand.” This mentality has lead Hills West to an undefeated season thus far. Although one of the youngest teams in the county, Hills West Varsity Tennis has earned considerable experience in the past few years and continues to work hard to maintain a dominant force in the county.
With its 8-0 record, Hills West thinks it has what it take its talents to the County championship. Junior Ben Wright notes, “We have enormous potential and we have grown a lot since last year. We have the ability to make it to the county finals and we intend to continue our dominant run until then.” Hills West Varsity Tennis will aim to continue its outstanding success throughout the rest of the season in pursuit of advancing to the County Championships.
