Girls Track Off to Promising Start
The season for girls’ track has officially begun and is off to a good start with their first few meets. In the past, the girls have had promising seasons and this year the team has high standards once again. “[We are expecting] to be league and county champions once again,” commented senior Deborah Myrtil.
On December 15th, the team’s Armonry meet was described by sophomore Alyssa Jean as “a great experience because there were so many different schools and you get to challenge yourself.” Senior Kerri Graber placed 16th overall in the 300 meter dash out of 300 competitors with a time of 42.32. Senior Elizabeth Pabisch placed 70th out of 211 competitors with a time of 1.49.77 in the 600 meter run. Junior Paige Botie placed 114th out of 130 competitors in the one mile run event with a time of 6.20.28. In the 4 x 200 meter relay Half Hollow Hills was able to place 11th out of 123 other schools with a time of 1:48.94.
With stats like these, the girls will continue the rest of the season with confidence. “The girls have been hitting personal bests and really giving it their all,” commented senior Ana Alhoud. The girls have been able to perform in their meets and will only continue to succeed as the season goes on.
