Coming To You Live…From Home

In the new world we live in, the only thing to do is stay home (unless you need groceries). So, it seems as if there’s nothing to do other than watch Netflix. If you were planning on going to a concert in the next few months, chances are it isn’t happening. Luckily, concerts have been coming to our living rooms!

On Thursday, a Disney Sing-Along aired on ABC. A ton of celebrities sang Disney songs from home, and the lyrics were shown at the bottom of the screen for everyone to sing along. Musicians included: Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, Kristen Chenoweth, Beyonce, and many more. The stars sang classics like Can You Feel The Love Tonight from The Lion King and You’ve Got a Friend in Me from Toy Story. The event was hosted by Ryan Seacrest, and included a fun surprise for many Disney fans. The cast of High School Musical all came together to sing We’re All In This Together, a classic and fun song that originally aired at the end of the first musical. The cast was joined by the actors from the new series, High School Musical:The Musical: The Series. The special was a fun way to break up the evening, and it was definitely what everyone needed.

On Saturday April 18, another special aired on all three major networks- ABC, NBC, and CBS. It was called One World: Together at Home, and was put together to raise money for, and to honor the essential workers. The Rolling Stones, Sir Paul McCartney, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and more performed. The event was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert. Performers sang heartfelt ballots with themes of perseverance, happiness and hope to honor the first responders, and everyone who works for delivery services and grocery stores. It was a nice and different way to spread an important message.

These events are fun replacements for concerts, as we get to hear from so many famous musicians. They bring some cheer into everyday life, and provide a way to break away from Netflix. It is one example of how America is adjusting to this new normal.
