On Wednesday, the Half Hollow Hills High School West Girls Varsity Basketball team finished the remainder of their regular season games. The girls finished 8-8, putting them in 4th place in the league behind West Babylon, Eastport, and Hauppauge and sneaking them into one of the final playoff spots available.

In their last game of the season against East Islip, they had a triumphant 64-34 victory led by. Kayla Robertson who played amazing scoring 22 points and Alexa Hinke close behind her with 16. Emily Ross scored 9, Charlotte Anton and Dana Matthews had 4, Kristin Vaccarelli contributed 3, and Hannah Stein and Victoria Behr helped the team by each scoring 3-pointers.

Before this win, the girls had been on a slight skid since January 18th going 1-5 during that stretch. This game was crucial for the Lady colts as it booked them a trip to the playoffs where they now have a chance to make some noise.

The team’s first playoff game will be this Monday, February 11th at 4:00 against #9 seed Bayport in the Hills West Gym. These two teams did not meet in the regular season, so this will be the first time they will square off in the 2018-19 campaign. This season Bayport finished 10-8 in League 5 and won their last game of the season by a score of 51-26 against East Hampton.
