Caleb McLaughlin, an Award Winning Young Actor
The Golden Globes, one of the biggest award shows of the year, has just happened and is a very exciting event for viewers everywhere to watch. The very popular Netflix original series, Stranger Things, was nominated for the Best Drama TV Series at this event. Unfortunately, Stranger Things was at a loss for this award. Just over a week later, another award ceremony took place and an actor from the show received an award. At the NAACP Image Awards, Caleb McLaughlin was nominated for and won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Performance by a Youth (Series, Special, Television Movie or Limited Series). At just 16 years old, Caleb McLaughlin plays the sensible Lucas Sinclair, who is one of the major characters in the series. Caleb has began his acting career at 10 years old and started out as playing Young Simba in the Broadway adaptation of Disney’s The Lion King between 2012 and 2014. Additionally, he has portrayed Ricky Bell in the 2017 biographical miniseries, “The New Edition Story” which was nominated for and recieved the Outstanding Television Movie, Limited-Series or Dramatic Special. He is also known for his impeccable style at red carpet events and award ceremonies. The NAACP Image Awards is a ceremony honoring people of color and their outstanding work in film, television, music, and literature. In addition, the award show recognizes people who have advocated for social justice. Being nominated and recieving this honor, demonstrates Caleb’s exceptional acting ability as Lucas in Stranger Things as a young person of color. Fans of Caleb McLaughlin’s work are very impressed by what he has done so far and excited for what he will do in the future of his career. Congratulations to Caleb!
