Colts Hold Off Bellport Offensive
On Tuesday, October 24, the Colts played yet another tight game against Bellport, and had to work harder than usual to pull out the “W.” Although it was a great result, once again the scoreline did not fully represent the game. The Colts were a little sluggish offensively in the starting half and couldn’t really muster much of an offensive attack. Bellport pressed hard and brought all their men up on the attack and the Colts struggled defensively. For about 20 minutes in the first half the Colts were completely on the defensive. Bellport had a couple of close chances with some balls in behind, but luckily none of them went in.
Towards the end of the half Hills West shaped up a bit better and controlled the ball more. After yet another “senior night” at half time, the Colts came out with renewed intensity. Hills West’s defense was stronger and tighter, and played more fluently. Kevin Stanis logged another 2 goals, making it 5 goals and one assist in 3 games. Bellport in the second half didn’t mount much of an attack, and near the middle of the game Donovan Fraser finessed a shot in the lower right corner essentially killing off the game. It ended up being another shutout making it 10 shutouts for the season for Hills West!
