Boys Soccer Comes Up Short in 2nd Round of Playoffs
Coming off an upset in the first round of the playoffs, the Colts Boys Soccer team looked to continue their cinderella journey towards the Long Island Championship. Unfortunately, their hopes came to an end. As the eleventh seed the Colts were poised to pull off another upset versus the third seeded Smithtown West. Their chances looked great as the team went up two goals to none in the first half. The Colts were playing aggressive and pounding the ball at the net which led to goals by Adam Khanat and Chase McGuire. As the first half came to a close the momentum began to shift, however. Smithtown West put in two quick goals to tie the game, and then just a few minutes later took the lead on a questionable no-call. The Colts’ second half play didn’t match their first half performance, as they struggled slightly with ball control, which lead to Smithtown West’s comeback. The team, while disappointed with the loss, played great this season. While lose a few key seniors, the younger players should fill the void nicely next year.
