Hills West’s annual spirit week has returned! Students in all grades participated in spirit week, a week dedicated to promoting school spirit leading up to Homecoming weekend and the Hills West Homecoming football game. To start off spirit week, we had Pajama Day. Students arrived at school wearing their favorite pajamas, slippers and sleep attire. On the second day of spirit week, students walked down the hallways promoting their favorite college apparel. Wednesday, which was also picture day for grades 9-11, was Preppy Day.

“Preppy Day is my favorite day of spirit week because I like when everyone gets dressed up and looks decent for school. I get dressed up everyday so I like when others dress nice too,” says Madison Egre, a Senior here at High School West. “Spirit week is all about having fun, and showing how fun our school is,” Egre adds.

Thursday was Character Day, where each grade dressed up according to their designated Hollywood movie genre. Freshmen represented fantasy, Sophomores represented sci-fi, Juniors represented animation, and Seniors represented superheros. Spirit week ended with Class Spirit Day, where each grade wore their assigned color: 9th grade yellow/gold, 10th grade black, 11th grade white and 12th grade red.

“I really like pep rally day. It really gets us pumped up for Homecoming and everyone really shows their school spirit,” says Owen Egre, a Freshman at High School West. Sage Schneider noted that she thinks, “spirit week is a really fun way to get us excited for Homecoming”. Homecoming is an exciting event of the year, and we hope that everyone had a fun time promoting school spirit in honor of this time of year!
