Oh, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, it’s not Christmas…It’s Pep Rally! On the evening of September 19, 2014, students of Hills West returned to school to celebrate the annual event and to show their spirit. Each grade competed to find the best and most spirited class of this school year. The competitions during this year’s after-school pep rally were especially competitive between the Seniors and the Juniors. Both the Seniors and the Juniors won two competitions; Seniors took the win for the three legged race and tug of war, while the Juniors won the wheel barrel race and musical chairs.

Jocelyn Milord brought the huge win in musical chairs for the Juniors, allowing the Junior Class to dominate that particular competition. When asked, “How does it feel to be the reason why the Juniors won the musical chair competition?” Jocelyn responded, “It was a great, fun, and amazing experience. It was honestly the BEST feeling in the world to know that I helped lead the Class of 2016 to victory!”

The Freshmen came in last place, but did very well as the new underclassmen of Hills West, especially with the limited preparation time. Meanwhile, the Sophomores asserted themselves by demonstrating increased school spirit.

Towards the end of Pep Rally, the Hills West Class of 2015 Homecoming Court couples performed their skits. Sabrina Kim, a member of the Homecoming Court, noted that her Homecoming/Pep Rally experience was everything she expected and noted, “Being in Student Government I was always the one that was reading the bios, but it was nice that my bio was being read.”

Pep Rally is meant to be fun for everyone, and is meant for all grades to enjoy. No matter who took the crown in the end, every grade did their absolute best. This year’s after-school Pep Rally is one that will not be forgotten!
