The Academy Announces 56th Annual Grammy Awards Nominees
As the new year brings new surprises, the Grammys bring surprises too. The Grammys are on Sunday, January 26th. If you don’t know what the Grammys are, here is a quick catch-up: The Grammys are an annual award show recognizing all types of music, ranging from alternative to classical.
The first award is “Record of The Year” and the nominees are Get Lucky, Radioactive, Royals, Locked Out of Heaven and the infamous Blurred Lines. Next, the “Album of The Year” nominees are ‘The Blessed Unrest’ by Sara Bareilles, ‘Random Access Memories’ by Daft Punk, ‘Good Kid,M.A.A.D City, The Heist’ by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and ‘Red’ by Taylor Swift. With 32 categories in total, the Grammys recognize the best of the best such including Katy Perry, who’s song, ‘Roar’, has been nominated for several categories. Despite the popular belief that the Grammys are predictable, the popularity of the nominations in each category make the competition this year particularly intense.
