Hills West Varsity Football Defeats Copiague in a Much Needed Win

Entering Friday’s game the Hills West Varsity Football team had a record of 1-3, and they needed a win badly if they had any hopes of getting a playoff spot. Hills West put up a lot of points in the game and it all started early with two first quarter touchdowns. Both of the touchdowns were running plays, and kicker Arthur Bosua connected on both extra points giving the Colts a 14-0 lead going into the 2nd quarter.

The scoring didn’t stop there though, as another rushing touchdown and extra point conversion by West gave them a huge 21-0 lead heading into half time. Even though Anthony Lucarelli was playing quarter back it was his running game that was so great in Friday’s game. He finished with 174 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns on just 15 carries for the day.

Lucarelli was not the only Hills West Colt that had a successful day on the field. His teammates Jerry Brown Jr, Lucas DiGiorgi, and Ray Lyte combined for another 125 rushing yards on 17 attempts. Brown and DiGiorgi each had rushing touchdowns of their own in the game, with DiGiorgi’s coming in the 1st quarer and Brown’s coming in the 4th quarter. As a team, Hills West ran for 327 yards on the day.

The game would end with Hills West defeating Copiague by a score of 34-0. Hills West’s record improved to 2 wins and 3 losses on the season, and Copiague fell to 1 win and 4 losses on the season.
