Snowstorm Updates
On January 25 at 5:00 am, snow began to start and many of us at Hills West anticipated a snow day. These are the updates on the storm. The storm is expected to end on Monday, January 26 at around 1:00 pm.
As of January 25, 2026, there is heavy snow, sleet, and high winds going 15-20 mph. This means that New York will receive 8-12 inches of snow and the snowfall rate is 3 inches/hour but it still doesn’t beat the snowstorm in 2016, which received 27.5 inches of snow over a 3 day period.
As a result, LaGuardia Airport is shut down and there are over 2,700 canceled flights, according to CBS News. To stay safe, take these precautions, don’t drive, make sure to keep warm, and to stay inside. The roads are extremely dangerous and to keep children safe, NYC public schools will have remote learning on Monday. Fortunately, Half Hollow Hills announced that school will be closed on Monday and there will be no after school activities. Students will be able to enjoy a snow day on Monday. Stay warm and stay safe.
