Fantasy football on the Roundup is back!  With most leagues having only one or two weeks left of their regular season, many of you owners are either looking to secure a top spot or make a late-season playoff push.  There is only a limited amount of time left to cram in as many points and wins as possible for teams making this final surge.  With that in mind, here are this week’s starters:

  • Philip Dorsett – This is undoubtedly a risk, and only one I would suggest taking in a situation where you are desperate for high point totals and need a breakout player.  He has not been efficient this year, being Andrew Luck’s WR3.  However, he is a deep threat, which gives boom-or-bust value.  On top of this, he will be guarded by the horrific Jets secondary, which has surrendered many long touchdowns this year.  Dorsett will not be heavily guarded at all, and with Andrew Luck returning this week, big fantasy numbers may be coming.
  • Tyreek Hill – Tyreek Hill made a name for himself last week, scoring a receiving, rushing, and return touchdown against the top Broncos defense.  In leagues where punt return yards count big, he is and has been a must-start for weeks.  Even in leagues where these yards give little fantasy value, he has still been great since Jeremy Maclin’s injury.  He has a very good matchup against the Atlanta Falcons this week.
  • Tyrell Williams – Williams has become a capable WR2.  He is officially the top receiver on the Chrargers, and has proven to be a good start.  A favorable matchup against the Buccaneers gives Williams a low floor and limitless ceiling in Week 13.
  • Golden Tate – Tate is leading the Lions this season with 85 targets.  This gives him a reasonably high floor.  With a stellar matchup against the Saints this week, his floor is raised as well as his ceiling, providing room for a stellar performance from the shifty Detroit slot receiver.

Here are the Week 13 sitters:

  • Sammy Watkins – Do not fall into the Sammy Watkins trap (just yet).  I am a strong believer that Watkins may be the guy that takes teams through the playoffs, but he just has not made a full recover from that foot injury yet.  Despite a matchup with the Oakland Raiders, let Sammy Watkins sit on your bench one more week.
  • Emmanuel Sanders – This trap is even bigger than Sammy Watkins.  Sanders in coming off of a huge performance last week, so you fantasy owners look toward the schedule this week and get very excited to see Jacksonville.  However, the Jaguars have a top 5 pass defense this year!  Week after week people see wide receivers have bad games against the Jags and call it a fluke.  After 12 weeks of consistency, there are no more flukes.  On top of this, the Bronco quarterback Trevor Siemian is out this week with an injury, which may prove to be disastrous for Bronco receivers.  Be educated and sit Sanders this week.
  • Terrance West – West is no longer the lead back.  His carries have been limited, thus limiting his floor with the emergence of Kennith Dixon.  No matter the matchup, he seems to be a bench player at this point.
  • Jay Ajayi – A theme this week is traps.  Ajayi was saved by a touchdown last week and failed to produce any kind of yardage against the worst rush defense in the league, the 49ers.  He probably won’t see a lot of room against the Ravens, home of the best rush defense in the league.  If you have the option, sit Jay Ajayi this week, despite his workhorse upside.

I wish you the best of luck in Week 13!
