Varsity Baseball Wins First Game of Championship
The varsity baseball Colts beat Hauppague to capture game one of the league championship, winning 2-1 on 7th inning heroics. The score was tied 0-0 until the third inning, when a player hit a solo shot on Hauppague. The Colt’s bats were cold until the 7th, and last, inning when Freshman Owen Mcmenamy led off with a single, followed by another single by Junior Luke Stampfl. Senior Matt Cabezon followed with a Fielder’s Choice, getting the out at second. Senior Tommy Digiorgi followed with a strikeout. The last hope was Sophomore Sean Noriega, who produced with a two-run double, putting our Colts in the lead, and proving to be the winning hit. Junior Sal Lovaglio had another strong performance on the mound, striking out 10 while allowing one run in a complete game. The Colts need one more win against Hauppague to be champions of the league.
