Week 8 of College Football
Saturday, October 24th was a wild day in college football. It included upsets, quadruple-overtime’s, and one wild finish.
Arkansas beat Auburn 54-46 in one of the two 4-OT games. QB Brandon Allen found Drew Morgan and he ran 20 yards after the catch to clinch the big win for the Razorbacks. The other 4-OT game was a thriller as #23 Duke won 45-43 at Virginia Tech. The Hokies got the ball first in the 4th overtime and scored a 1-yard rush touchdown courtesy of Travon McMillen, but they were unable to get the 2-point conversion. Duke followed with a 25-yard bomb to Erich Schneider to tie it, and then QB Thomas Sirk ran in for 2 points to clinch the win.
It was really an insane game in Georgia Tech in front of a great crowd. The Yellow Jackets played Florida State in what turned out to be a thriller. Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo had never missed a 4th quarter kick in his career until this game. The kick was blocked and DB Lance Austin returned it 78 yards to give the Yellow Jackets a 22-16 upset win over undefeated, #9 Florida State. It was all chaos from there, as the crowd stormed the field to celebrate with the team.
Top 10 teams rolled to victories including Baylor, Clemson, Michigan State, LSU, and Ohio State. These teams look to continue their greatness next week, in Week 9 of the College Football season.
