Colts Fall Short in County Finals
In a much anticipated game, the Hills West Colts matched up against the East Islip Redmen for the Suffolk County Championship. Not only was West seeded higher, but they had also beaten East Islip by one point in the regular season. On the opening kickoff, Hills West recovered a fumble on the 19 yard line, and 7 plays later they reached the end zone on a Ray Lyte run. While they were able to score again on another impressive Ray Lyte run, the team had a lot of trouble moving the ball on offense. Going into the half, Hills was up 14-7. The defense was holding well, but in the second half East Islip broke away. The Redmen scored 20 unanswered points to end the game with a score of 27-14. Unfortunately the Colts did not win the title this year, but with a majority of the team returning, the Colts chances look bright for next year.
