The Hills West Boys Soccer team traveled to Copiague on Tuesday needing just one more win to clinch their 12th consecutive playoff berth. The Colts started out quick, as, Senior, Stephen Lauria scored on a penalty kick just minutes into the game, followed by a goal from Junior Ryan Barone off a Dan Rubinowitz throw in. After giving up a sloppy goal, it was 2-1 at halftime. Senior Jordan Stummer led the Colts in the second half, scoring 3 goals and assisting on another to Izzy Gangidino; making it 6-1 West. The lead was large enough for the crowd to see the highly anticipated debut of promising Sophomore, Matt Barone and third string goalkeeper Peter Rogu, who both played very hard until the final whistle blew. The Colts won the game 6-1, giving them their 9th win and 12th consecutive appearance in the playoffs. They take on Centereach on Friday in an attempt to reach double digit wins.
