Colts Shut-out Copiague with Stellar Pitching on Opening Day

To begin the season, the Colt’s varsity baseball team shutout their opponent Copiague 6-0 in all-around domination. Leading the team to its first victory was Junior Sal Lovaglio, who pitched an impressive complete game shutout and tossed ten strikeouts. He barely allowed the other team to reach base, allowing only three hits and one walk. On the offensive side, Junior Jonah Glickstein led the team with three rbi’s on two hits, including a sharp line drive to center field with the bases loaded. Also with rbi’s were TJ Montalbano, who drove in a run with a single, and Matt Cabezon who was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. The other run was scored on a pick-off error by Copiague. Along with strong performances from Lovaglio and Glickstein, the Colts defense was led by senior third baseman, Greg Plumitallo, who was a wall at third, blocking every ball that came his way. The game was definitely a great indicator of the Colt’s season, and hopefully they can repeat yesterday’s performance over and over again.
