A Dix Hills Hate Crime
Police are currently investigating a hate crime that has occurred in our very own town of Dix Hills-more specifically, on Ryder Ave. During the snowstorm that swept across the East Coast during the first week of February, a swastika was found spray-painted across the garage door of a house belonging to a Jewish family. It is believed that this hate crime took place either during the dark, snowy hours of the evening of February 3, or the eerie hours of the following morning. Police have also discovered other fresh graffiti in the area, including hashtags, pound symbols, and stars scrawled upon stop signs and speed limit signs.
The police are encouraging anyone who has any information about the crime to call Crime-Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS (8477). There is a cash reward of up to $5000 for anyone who discloses information that leads to the arrest of the criminal.
