Girls Varsity Track: The Good, the Bad, and the Triumphant

Yesterday, 1/16, the girls track team had an invitational at Suffolk Community College. In the meet the girls had their weak and strong points but were able to come away with some medals. In the 3 X 5 meter shuttle hurdle relay Sophomore Regine Williams, Sophomore Yasamen Aminy, and Senior Alyssa Ng came in first place with a time of 31.45. In the high jump Sophomore Deja Wilson came in fourth place jumping 4.08 feet and Junior Isabella Dana tied Wilson with the same distance. In the shoput area the girls were able to sweep first, second, third, and fourth place in the event. Senior Tiara Davis came in first place throwing 35 feet 11 inches, Junior Oyin Adewale came in right behind her at second place throwing 33 feet 3.25 inches, Junior Miya Jones came in third place throwing 30 feet 1.25 inches, and Junior Alexis Legare came in fourth place throwing 28 feet 8 inches. Sophomore Taylor McGee came in as number fifteenth in the race walk with a time of 9:57.28. In the 4 by 200 meter relay Half Hollow Hills West was able to place fourth with a time of 2:01.15. Unfortunately in the 1600 sprint medley Hills West place eight and in the 4 by 800 meter relay we came in ninth place with a time of 12:57.48. The girls had their ups and downs but are still confident in their abilities to succeed and do better the next time.
