A Strong Start: Freshman Finish Their First Quarter
As many may know, the first quarter of the 2025-2026 school year will officially end on Thursday, November 6. While this may seem like any other end to a marking period, many tests are taken, report cards are worked on, and everyone, both teachers and students alike, are in a sudden time crunch to make sure papers are graded and grades are where we want them. This time also marks a symbolic end to the freshmen classes’ first quarter of high school.
For the past two months, the freshmen class have entered a new school and have become accustomed to finding their way around to their classes, meeting their teachers, and adjusting to the workload. In addition to classroom changes, they have also been introduced to a wider variety of extracurricular activities and sports, which helps guide them along the unfamiliar path of high school.
“It was definitely a big shift from middle school”, said ninth grader Rachael Bank. ”On the bright side, I feel like I gained lots of freedom and friends. I also liked how sports got more serious going into high school. But, classes definitely got harder, and there are way more things that are expected of you in high school! I had to learn that the hard way!”
High school is a major change from middle school, but it also presents many opportunities to the 9th grade class. Whether competing on the field or helping out at our recent Safe Halloween event, the freshmen are showing their newfound school spirit inside and outside of the classroom. Even though some things may be more difficult, the freshmen class is navigating their way through high school and has successfully completed the first quarter!
