Congratulations Science Olympiad!
On Saturday, January 27th, High School West’s science olympiad team participated in the Science Olympiad Division C NY regionals. Every year students who love science come together to participate in this annual event.
In the beginning of the year, members of the club choose their desired partners and events. These events range from Forestry to Anatomy and Physiology. This year the new officers changed the club in different ways. These changes included an entrance exam to see which subject (physics, biology, chemistry, and earth science) you accel in and presentations that allows members to display what they have learned/built to the rest of the club. “This year we really pushed to try and place in multiple events. We wanted to do better than last year.” says Evan Mathew, secretary of science olympiad.
Many look forward to this day-long event. “Not only do I get to compete in a subject that I love, I meet so many new people during the competition and make a lot of new friends,” says Arjun Airen, vice president of Science Olympiad.
After all of their hard work, our Science Olympiad team placed in many events including winning a bronze medal in both chem lab and write it do it. “We are so extremely proud of all we accomplished during this competition. We hope to keep making progress and win even more medals next year, “ says Allison Park, president of science olympiad.
Congratulations to all of this club’s success. We are so proud of you!
