Colts Stampede Past Northport in Semifinal

After the Hills West Colts, in their last game, barely got past Bay Shore, they came out in this Semifinals contest on fire. The Colts took an early lead in this game and never looked back. Northport never really came in striking distance of the Colts and when ever Northport scored, West countered with two more baskets. West was up at the half and came out of the locker room determined to finish what they started. And they did just that by getting stop after stop and basket after basket to open up the half. The Colts pulled away towards the start of the 4th quarter and ended up winning by a score of 72-47. Matt Asenjo lead the team with 22 points, while Kian Dalyrimple added 19 points and 16 rebounds. The key to West’s win was staying out of foul trouble and keeping Northport’s Lukas Jarret in foul trouble. He sat out most of the first half and that allowed West to capitalize on Northport’s small size. West moves on to the Suffolk County Championship this Tuesday versus a very accomplished Brentwood team. If the Colts play as well as they did versus Northport, the Championship will be a true battle.
